Attraction

18th Century German writer Johann Wolgang Von Goethe said,

“A great person attracts great people and knows how to hold them together.”

Are you attractive? It sounds like an odd question to ask a leader. But I think there is something in our character and the way we interact with people that makes us either attractive or not. A great person, attracts great people, but it's not something we tend to think about. Do people respect you and want to spend time with you? When you’re asking for people to join your organisation is it easy to attract talent? If not, perhaps we need to start with ourselves. Are we ‘attractive’ leaders, it's a challenging question.

And when we have attracted people can we hold them together? This is almost a second skill set and talks to our sustainable leadership. Something I've always tried to do, is to not only lead each individual differently, but also connect the team as often as possible.

These are the two sides of the same leadership coin.
