Essence

Theodore Hesburgh was an American Catholic priest and academic, famous as the president of the University of Notre Dame. He said,

“The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision.” 

The essence of leadership lies in having a clear and compelling vision of the future. A vision provides direction and purpose, and it inspires and motivates people to work towards a common goal.

Without a vision, a leader may be able to manage day-to-day tasks, but they will struggle to inspire and guide their team towards long-term success. A vision serves as a roadmap for the future, guiding the decisions and actions of a leader and their team.

By communicating their vision effectively and leading by example, a leader can create a shared sense of purpose and inspire their team to achieve great things. In short, a vision is the foundation of effective leadership.
